Ear Seeding: A Simple Way to Support your Wellbeing

2 min read

If you’ve been a client of mine for a while, you may have heard me talk about ear seeding — a simple Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)-inspired practice that I often incorporate into my work with existing clients. But what exactly is ear seeding, and why do I love using it?

What Is Ear Seeding?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the ear is viewed as a microsystem of the body, meaning different areas and points of the ear are traditionally associated with different parts and functions of the body.

You may have seen the ear maps that show the body represented within the ear — interestingly, the traditional map resembles an inverted fetus!

Ear seeding involves placing small seeds or beads over selected points on the outer ear. Gentle pressure can then be applied to these points throughout the day.

Think of it as a simple form of acupressure that you can continue between sessions.

What Can Ear Seeding Support?

Depending on the individual and the points selected, ear seeds may be used as a complementary wellness tool to support:

Relaxation & stress management

Nervous-system regulation

Sleep and bedtime relaxation

Digestive wellness

Mindful appetite awareness

Everyday tension and discomfort

Overall wellbeing

and much more!

The specific points I use are selected based on the individual's goals and what we're working on together.

Why I Love Ear Seeding for My Clients

One of my favourite things about ear seeds is that the practice doesn't end when the session does. Once the seeds are placed, clients can gently press or massage them throughout the day, providing a simple reminder to pause, breathe, and check in with themselves.

It's a small practice, but sometimes those small moments of awareness can make a big difference in how we move through our day.

I use gold-plated ear seeds, so they add a little bit of sparkle while you're supporting your wellness.

A Complementary Approach to Wellness

Ear seeding isn't meant to replace medical care or treatment. Instead, I use it as a complementary wellness practice alongside nutrition, lifestyle habits, stress-management techniques, and other supportive approaches. Everyone is different, which is why I always tailor the placement and approach to the individual.

If you're curious about ear seeding and wondering whether it may be a good fit for your wellness goals, feel free to reach out or ask me about it at your next session.

Please note: Ear seeding is a complementary wellness practice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, have allergies or skin sensitivities, or have concerns about whether ear seeding is appropriate for you, speak with your healthcare professional before trying it.
